Tooling & lean manufacturing design manager
The mission of the tooling department is to design almost all of the tooling for the manufacturing process of a part. We can have more than thirty different studies to design to produce a single part reference.
We design tools for the Belleville site as well as for our foreign sites in the United States, Croatia, etc. In order to carry out our studies, we have to work closely with the other departments in the design office (product design and process simulation) as well as with the production methods staff, who give us the workshop feedback on our tools. The feedback from the toolmakers (SJ TOOLING) who make the tools we design is also very important to try to simplify their machining work as much as possible.
We also work on RID projects to try to constantly innovate our manufacturing process.
My daily role
I also have the mission of LEAN TOOLS, which consists of capitalizing on the various positive or negative feedback from the different departments to improve the quality of our tools, reduce costs and lead times.
I also work with the industrialization department to give my opinion on tooling for future machine investments. Having a “tooling referent” simplifies communication from top to bottom.
